Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.
Now working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.
This represents the player's initial title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface from spring of that year.
Success also means he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.
His counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on court had caused observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was over.
But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an better serving game.
He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.
He rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, he clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
